Dead Sea Treasures
A Simple Dead Sea Skincare Routine for Mature Skin
There is a moment, usually in front of the bathroom mirror at the end of a long day, when a ten-step routine stops being appealing. You want to wash your face, put something lovely on it, and go to bed. That instinct is a good one: the routine that works is the one that still happens when you are tired, traveling, or simply not in the mood.
So this is a short routine, not a comprehensive one: a morning, an evening, and one step you do once a week. It is built around Dead Sea minerals, which we have been working with in Jordan, on the shore of the sea itself, since 1995. Nothing here is urgent and nothing here needs fixing — this is simply a pleasant, repeatable way to look after your skin.
Why Dead Sea minerals suit a short routine
The Dead Sea sits roughly 430 meters below sea level — some 1,400 feet down, the lowest dry land on the planet — and its water carries one of the highest mineral loads on earth. That is why we make everything where we do.
The practical appeal, for a routine, is that it keeps the shelf small. You do not need a separate product for every square inch of your face — you need a handful you enjoy putting on, in a sensible order, used often enough to become automatic.
The order to apply things, and why it matters
One rule covers most of it: lightest to richest. Thin, fluid textures go on first, creams go on after. A rich cream is designed partly to sit on the surface and hold moisture there, so anything applied over it has a harder time settling in.
In the morning that gives you cleanser, serum, eye cream, moisturizer, sunscreen — and sunscreen is always last. In the evening there is no sunscreen, so your night cream finishes the routine. Give each layer twenty or thirty seconds before the next: it stops products from pilling, and it turns the routine into a small pause rather than a task.
Your morning routine
- Cleanse gently. Lukewarm water and a mild cleanser. If your skin feels tight and squeaky afterwards, the cleanser is too strong — comfortable is the target.
- Serum. A few drops of Mineral Beauty Serum, pressed into slightly damp skin with your fingertips rather than dragged across it. A serum is the lightest thing you will apply, so it goes first.
- Eyes. A grain-of-rice amount of Eye Cream, tapped along the bone under the eye with your ring finger, which presses more lightly than the others — stay on the bone, not up against the lash line.
- Moisturize. Day Cream Moisturizer over the face, then keep going down the neck and across the décolletage — the areas people skip for decades and then wish they hadn't.
- Sunscreen. Finish with Sunscreen Cream SPF 45+, used generously and every day, not only in summer, and reapplied through the day if you are outdoors. On a rushed morning, this is the step worth keeping when everything else gets dropped.
Your evening routine
Evenings are the same shape, one step shorter, and usually the more enjoyable of the two.
- Cleanse. Take off makeup, sunscreen and the day. If you wear a lot of either, cleanse twice — once to loosen, once to actually clean.
- Serum. The same Mineral Beauty Serum you used in the morning. There is no need for a separate night version.
- Eyes. Eye cream again, same light touch.
- Night cream. Finish with Night Cream. Night creams are richer than day creams because they do not have to sit under sunscreen or makeup, so apply yours a good twenty minutes before bed and let it settle rather than transfer to your pillowcase.
Where the Wrinkle-Defying Cream fits
If you would like one more focused step, Wrinkle-Defying Cream is the one to add. It is the most focused step in the routine: it softens the look of fine lines and leaves skin looking smoother and more even.
Use it either in place of your night cream, or on the specific areas you tend to notice — the forehead, between the brows, the corners of the mouth — with night cream over the top. What is not worth doing is adding it in the same week as another new product, because you will not know which one your skin is responding to.
The weekly step
Once a week, give yourself twenty minutes. This is the part people look forward to and the part most likely to be quietly dropped, so pick a fixed evening — it works better than good intentions.
Start with the Facial Mud Mask, applied in an even layer over clean, dry skin and left on for the time given on the pack. Rinse with lukewarm water rather than scrubbing it off, then carry on with your usual evening steps. Skin looks brighter and feels noticeably softer straight afterwards.
The Facial Scrub is the other weekly option, for when skin looks dull or makeup is not sitting as smoothly as usual. Use light pressure and short circles for under a minute, letting the product do the work rather than your hands. Once a week is plenty.
If you use both, leave a few days between them. A mask and a scrub back to back in one evening is the most common way to end up with skin that feels tight and uncomfortable.
Patch test first — it takes a day
Before a new product joins the routine, put a small amount on the inside of your forearm or behind your ear, leave it 24 hours, and see how your skin responds. It is a boring step, and worth doing every time.
Introduce one product at a time, a few days apart. If you start five things on the same Monday and something does not agree with you on Thursday, you have no way of knowing which one it was — and you will probably abandon all five. If anything feels uncomfortable, stop using it, and speak to your doctor or pharmacist if unsure.
How long to give it before you judge
Some things show up quickly: within a week or two, skin usually feels more comfortable after cleansing and foundation tends to sit better. How your skin looks moves more slowly, so give a new routine a fair four to six weeks before deciding whether you like it.
Take a photo at the start, in daylight, and compare in the same light weeks later — bathroom lighting at eleven at night after a difficult week is not evidence of anything. Skin also shifts with the seasons, with sleep and with travel. A routine is one input among many, so judge it gently.
Keep it realistic
A short routine you actually follow beats an elaborate one you skip four nights out of seven. So decide now what your minimum looks like, for the days with no time and no energy.
- Minimum morning: moisturizer and sunscreen. Two steps, under a minute.
- Minimum evening: cleanse and night cream. Never sleep in makeup — but do not lie awake feeling guilty about a skipped serum either.
- Everything else — serum, eye cream, the weekly mask — is the fuller version you do when you have time, which becomes most days once it is a habit.
Two small practicalities help enormously. Keep the products where you will see them, at eye level rather than in a drawer, and attach the routine to something you already do without thinking, like brushing your teeth, so it stops requiring a decision.
A gentle place to start
If you are building this from scratch and would rather not buy everything at once, begin with three: a moisturizer, a sunscreen and the weekly mask. Add the serum and eye cream once those have become automatic. Our bestsellers are simply the products our customers buy most, which makes them a sensible first basket.
Everything is made in Jordan, at the Dead Sea, as it has been since 1995. Shipping is free worldwide with no minimum and you have 30 days to return anything that is not right for you, so there is no penalty for changing your mind. Take your time with it — a routine you look forward to is one you will still be doing next year.
