From the shore of the lowest lake on Earth — to your bathroom shelf
The Dead Sea sits 430 metres below sea level, making it the saltiest and most mineral-dense body of water on Earth. Every litre holds 21 rare minerals — magnesium, potassium, calcium, bromide — at concentrations five times higher than any ocean. For millennia, kings and queens made pilgrimages to its shores. Cleopatra had its mud shipped to Egypt. Today, spa brands in Paris and New York still source their most expensive treatments from the same stretch of Jordanian shoreline.
Where the minerals come from
Dead Sea Treasures was founded in 1995 by a family of mineral harvesters on the Jordanian coast. Our factory sits three kilometres from the water's edge. The mud is hand-harvested at depths where mineral concentration peaks, then sun-dried and cold-processed — no high-heat treatment that strips active compounds. The salts are extracted by natural solar evaporation, the same method used for thousands of years. Nothing is synthesised. Nothing is imported from elsewhere and relabelled.
The raw material behind a $180 La Mer jar and a $38 Dead Sea Treasures jar is often identical. We know — we sell to both markets. The difference is the story attached to the packaging, not the mineral content inside.
Why we sell direct
For our first two decades, Dead Sea Treasures supplied raw minerals and finished formulations to hotel spas, department-store brands, and private-label manufacturers across Europe and North America. The margins were thin. The brands doing the retailing were pocketing four to five times what we charged them, and our name appeared nowhere on the shelf.
In 2019 we launched our own direct-to-consumer store. The logic was simple: if we cut out the distributor, the importer, and the department-store markup, we could sell the same spa-grade product at a price people could actually afford to use every week — not just save for special occasions. No third-party retailer. No inflated packaging budget to justify a higher price. Just the product, shipped from Jordan to your door.
What "spa-grade" actually means
Every batch is tested for mineral concentration, pH, and microbial safety at a certified Jordanian laboratory before it leaves the facility. Our facial mud mask, for example, carries a minimum of 35% active Dead Sea mud by weight — a threshold most hotel spa products meet, and most high-street brands do not. We publish our formulation standards and welcome questions.
We are not a wellness brand that found a trend and slapped "Dead Sea" on a label. We are the source.
The family behind the brand
Three generations of the same Jordanian family have worked these shores. Our founder, who began harvesting minerals at the age of nineteen, still visits the processing facility every week. His daughter now runs international operations. The recipes — the salt-to-oil ratios in our scrubs, the mud concentration in our masks — have been refined over thirty years and are not outsourced to a cosmetic chemist working from a brief. They come from people who have spent their lives at the water's edge.
